Interview with Matilda Kallin, Communications Manager at the Swedish Refugee Law Center
Social engagement has always been my driving force and is reflected in my studies and career choices. I have a Master's in Political Science focusing on international cooperation and crisis management from the Swedish Defence University.
Here at the Swedish Refugee Law Center I am the Communications Manager responsible for our strategic and external communications.
One of my most important tasks as a communicator at the Swedish Refugee Law Center is to spread knowledge about asylum and migration law. It's about transforming legal reasoning and current legislation into clear and comprehensible information that more people can understand. Simplifying and making information accessible is crucial for creating understanding and engagement.
How does the message get through? How do we create engagement in an issue few people know about?
The Swedish Refugee Law Center started in 1991 and was then called the Advisory Bureau for Asylum Seekers and Refugees. Since then, we have worked to ensure that all refugees receive a legally secure asylum process and have their human rights met.
To achieve this, we provide free legal advice, increase knowledge about migration law, and advocate for a humane and legally secure asylum process.
The best thing about The Swedish Refugee Law Center is my incredible colleagues who, with impressive knowledge and tireless drive, work to ensure that people in the migration process have their rights met.
I feel great pride in being part of Swedish Refugee Law Center's important work, especially at a time when record numbers of people are fleeing and the need for organisations like ours is greater than ever.
We are a small organization with limited resources looking to expand our fundraising capacity, and we chose between several different fundraising platforms. You delivered with confidence and expertise from the first meeting, and our trust in you has only grown throughout the process.
It's the security and expertise that you possess, but also the cost-effectiveness that results.
That it's very easy and intuitive to work in Octany, everything just flows. We understand exactly where to click, whether it's finding things in the menu, retrieving reports, or anything else. And if I wonder about something, I quickly get answers from support.
My dream is for more people to know about our work for refugees and get involved so that more people can have access to a humane and legally secure asylum process.
In challenging times, we all need to stand up for asylum rights and defend it as a fundamental part of a fair and humane society.
